Scooting

Elijah recently got a scooter. I couldn't help it. We were in London Drugs shopping for a birthday present for his friend and there they were. I ended up getting her one and him one. (They were a REALLY good deal.)

Anyways, this thing is the greatest thing since sliced bread, apparently. He's wearing all the safety gear and loving it. There's another little boy down the road who's ~6 weeks older than Elijah. He has a scooter too. One afternoon we were out scooting in the alley and met up with him. He grabbed his own gear and the two of them were off. It was really cute. They also found a patch of dandelions and were blowing them all over the place. Elijah stomach hurt after from it all. :-)

Sleeping siblings

Charlotte is all over her crib these days. She has taken to sleeping all curled up on her front. It reminded me of Elijah so I took some pictures of her. Then I went and found a picture of Elijah doing the same thing when he was almost the same age (the post was from Oct 2007). It's so funny to see the echo of Elijah's actions in Charlotte.

Brentwood Mall

Over the past 2 weeks we've gone to Brentwood mall on 2 occassions. I mention this for a couple reasons. 1 - we don't get out there so much any more. Especially compared to how often I went with Elijah when he was small. So, these have actually been Charlotte's first 2 times out at the play area. 2 - I took pictures, so I can share them. :)

The first time we went, I had to go to Zellers for something. We entered on the upper level (of course the upper level since that's where Starbucks is) and there happens to be a Bob the Builder ride just outside Zellers. Well, we couldn't go past it without Elijah climbing up on it. I think I've only ever once paid for one of those rides for him, and that was quite some time ago. So, I popped in the requisite Loonie to see how he'd like it. Predictably, he liked it. :D Charlotte was waiting in the stroller and she wasn't as thrilled.

Today was our most recent trip. I hadn't planned it but it happened to be close to the tile store we had to visit. It was also really windy outside so playing outdoors was not as appealing. We played in the play area for quite some time. The kids did pretty well. It's so weird being there now and comparing to when Elijah was little. I remember taking him there when he was so little he wasn't even crawling. (Here's a fun link to memory lane.) Now he's one of the biggest kids around. Boy, time flies. Well, I managed to get him to pose next to his sister for one good shot. It's not the best - the shadowing makes him look like he has a black eye! But at least they're in the same frame. :-)

Around and about

Well, the weather is turning. We're getting more nice days than rainy so hopefully it starts warming up more consistently too. In any case, we've been able to go outside much more these last few weeks. Last week the daycare closed for a holiday so both kids were home all the time. It's amazing how my productivity drops when both kids are home. It's partly my philosophy though. I figure on the days when I'm home with them, my first job is them, not house cleaning or whatever else needs to be done. Since I'm going back to work soon, I try to spend time with them as much as possible now. Sometimes it's a lot of work, especially when I'm tired. But I think I'll miss it soon enough.

Anyhow....

One day we went to Bonsor park to hang out. It's not very busy during the week and Elijah is comfortable there, so it's a good one for us when we're doing a quick outing. This time Charlotte got her first ride on a swing. She loved it! Elijah even pushed for a bit.

Another day we walked up to Yehyeh's house. On the way we passed a construction site. Elijah's favorite, of course. On the way back down the alley Elijah stopped to try and catch some blossoms blowing off a tree.

We're also trying to seed our back lawn now that the weather is warming up. It's needed a mowing or two so far and Elijah begged to be allowed to help. He's tired of his little toy mower and really wanted to use the big one. I let him try and wouldn't you know, he's big and strong enough to push it. Well, that's the best thing ever, apparently. Too cute.

Well, there's more to come but the kids have woken up and I promised to take them outside.

Elijah does chopsticks

He really does. It's crazy. When we went for dinner to Yehyeh and Goo Mah's house on Wednesday, Goo Mah gave him a set of chopsticks that she bought for him. He picked them up and after just a little instruction, used them quite well. Yay Elijah!

Charlotte is 10 months? What?

Yup, it came on Saturday and went and I didn't take any pictures! OOps! Well, I took one on Sunday to make up for it. :D Was trying to get Elijah to pose with her, but they didn't quite get it right so Elijah is a little out of focus. Still, it's a cute shot.

Here is another shot of her, a couple weeks ago. Also cute.

Recent activities

During spring break we joined Josh and Avery in exploring a different Motoring Munchkins-type play time. It was fun for the kids and Elijah got to try out something new - bouncy castles and slides and pirate ships. He had fun. Plus, they had a couple "fast cars" for him to use as well.

Of course, we continue to go to the regular Motoring Munchkins too, when we can. We were out of commission for a good part of March. Gary went away for work, the kids and I got a NASTY cold with cough, I got pink eye and the fridge broke. Talk about nuts. Anyway, we're past that now. Here's a picture of Charlotte at Motoring Munchkins before all that, then some more pics from this past Friday. Charlotte was playing peek-a-boo with another 10 month old. Pretty cute. Elijah discovered the rope swings and had fun with them.

Easter in Vernon

This past weekend we went to Vernon to celebrate Easter with Grandma and Grandpa. Gary was able to take some time off work so we ended up staying for almost a week. As you can imagine, there were many many pictures during that time so I've done up a slide show for them. I'm going to post it directly from the host site so it'll show up on it's own, I think. Highlights include the hunt for Peter Cottontail, Elijah cross country skiing for the first time and LOVING it, meeting up with another Erin and her kids Noah and Jacob to feed the ducks at the park and just hanging around with Grandma and Grandpa!
