Ummmm...End of April?!

How did we get here? Is the year going incredibly fast for anyone else out there? Well, the winter rains are almost over and there have been some days of "sun" for us lately. We took advantage of it this morning with a walk to a nearby yard sale and on to a playground. Took some videos to share. Enjoy the show! :)

Elijah's story of the day

We went to the aquarium and saw the whales. But the dolphin show was not on. Then we went to see them down below with Grandma and Grandpa and everybody else. We went home and had some yummy, yummy, yummy, yummy, yummy, yummy dinner. Then everybody else came. Charlotte and Elijah and Yumi got tattoos on our cheeks. Elijah got a spider just like spider man. Yumi got an octopus and Charlotte got a turtle. We liked it and we played with it until it came off. And then we went home and had some supper. The next day we went to the aquarium once again. Then we saw the fishies swimming everywhere in the water. Everywhere in the water. Everywhere in the water. Then we went home and had some supper with perogies and beans and a little bit of rice and some meat. We had cupcakes with sprinkles on it and cookies too. Then we went to bed and the next morning we got up and the snow was everywhere. There was a pile of snow! But I didn't see any snow until I did. I saw a super huge mound of snow. Then we cleared the sidewalk with our snow shovels. And then we still kept shoveling until it was supper. And then the night began. At the night time it snowed lots and lots and lots and lots but it melted. And we went to Anthony's house. And then I went back home and had some yummy supper. Yum yum yum yum yum. And then we went to bed. The next morning the sun was shining and we went into the pool and we put water down our suits. And then it was time for supper. Then we had beans with rice and we had some carrots. And then we had some meat. Then we went to bed with our jammies on and our whole bodies washed. Then we had some breakfast that was so yummy yum yum. Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house! And I didn't know there was snow. Then we went outside and had a snowball fight and I threw snow balls in Grandma's suit. And I said “Have good fun, huh? Cause I'm going to throw a snowball in your neck.” Then we went to bed.

I think he may have been hungry when writing this. :)

Well, it finally snowed! The kids couldn't wait to get outside so at 8:30 Saturday morning, we were out there shovelling. Here are some bits and pieces of their fun.

Elijah has been doing a literacy assignment at school. One of the exercises is to choose a family photo and write a story about it. Erin did one with a photo of Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Caroline, Uncle Devon, Charlotte, Mama and Papa in it. It was a pretty good story. But he liked it so much he wanted to do another, so I did one with him tonight, and I told him I would put it on all the computers (the internet) so everyone can see it. This is the result:

Once upon a time, everybody came over and we out to the creek. While we were at the creek, we went to the trail and watched the water. It was cold and wet. We ran around and looked for fish, and then we saw a doggie. Doggies are fun to play with. Somebody was with the dog. We saw trees and Grandma and Grandpa were there. Auntie Caroline and Uncle Devon were there. We had a fun time.

We climbed up the stairs until we got to the houses. Then we followed the sidewalk. Grandma and I were sitting on plants! We were funny. Grandma and I were running. And then I started walking fast until we got home.

Skating

During the month of November, we enrolled Elijah in his first set of skating lessons. The session ran for month and lessons were twice a week. I was a little worried about the falling but he seems to really like winter sports. Skiing is one of his favorite things to do and it turns out skating was ok for him too, even with the falling. He was very pleased that during the run of lessons Mama, Papa and Charlotte all made it out to watch. He made great progress and we'll consider signing up for the next session in January. In the meantime, here are some pictures on and off the ice. At the end, there's a video from his first lesson (sooo painful to watch) and from his last lesson. Yay Elijah!
First time getting all geared up
Posing with Mama

Last day; Papa doing up his skates and waiting for the lesson

On the ice, last day

And finally, some videos
Day 1 aka Distracted by bright objects

Last day; what an improvement!

Elijah Turns 5!

This past Sunday was Elijah's 5th birthday!! The whole weekend was about birthdays! We started off with cupcakes to the kindergarten class on Friday morning.

This was followed by some silly shots of the kids in the backyard. :)

Saturday was Elijah's party. We borrowed Rowan and Harriet's common room (thanks!) and invited many of Elijah's friends to help celebrate, including some new school friends.
In case you didn't catch it, the theme of the party this year was Transformers!! Bumblebee made quite an appearance! ;)

Sunday evening we had our family dinner celebration for Elijah. We started out by making pizzas. I think the "kids" had a great time. (Didn't they, Ed?)

After dinner was birthday cake! We were kind of "caked" out at this point so we had a special mango, blueberry icecream cake! YUMMY! :)

And finally, Elijah opened all his birthday gifts.

The other event on Sunday was Elijah's friend Josh's birthday party! The kids had a blast. Thanks for inviting us Josh!!

Do you think Elijah had a good weekend? Well, this about sums it up! Happy Birthday Elijah!!!

PS. Now we've got about a week's worth of assembly to do on all these toys....
