Devin's Wedding

On July 18th my brother got married to his fiance, Caroline, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. We were given advance notice, of course and decided that we'd plan on going even though I hadn't given birth to Charlotte yet and she was only going to be ~1 month old at the time of the trip. Turns out that it was a good decision and so we all went out to Ontario and had a great time of it. We stayed in a cabin at Bruce Bay, where Caroline's father hosted us. What a great place! We were all right on the lake and had plenty of space. I highly recommend looking up this place for a family holiday, if you happen to be planning a vacation in the area! You can see the website for Bruce Bay Cottages here.

Devin and Caroline had their wedding and reception in a very unique place. It was held at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Museum in Sault Ste. Marie. It was a great venue, the food was AMAZING and we were happy to be there for the special event.

So, here are my favorite photos from the trip. I'll group them seperately as trip photos and wedding photos.

Playing catch up!

I've got many many photos to post from the last 2 months so I figured the best way was to do some slide shows.

The first is all about the 3 weeks that my Mom came and spent here. I truly can never thank her enough for all the help she provided in my last week and a half of pregnancy and first week and a half of adjustment when Charlotte came home. It would have been crazy without her! The slideshow is a variety of shots - mostly playing with Elijah and time with Charlotte. Note how great the front yard looks after Mom spent hours in the flower gardens!! :)

The second show is my Dad's 60th birthday celebration. Mom spent months planning this and invited lots of family and friends. Lots of them were able to come out, including my brother and his fiance, who stayed with us. It was great to see everyone and the dinner was really nice too. Elijah had a great deal of fun, especially since he got to help make Grandpa's cupcakes and then blow out the candles on them, many times!

Elijah and Yumi also had moments of fun, including this one that I caught a clip of. (See below)

The final show is from Charlotte's One-Month Banquet. After some deliberation, Gary and I decided to keep it small this time. We hosted just 2 tables of family at the Kirin restaurant in City Square. The meal and service were excellent. We were very pleased that Grandma and Grandpa could make it as well, despite it meaning they did another drive to Vancouver! Thanks to everyone for helping us celebrate!

And finally, here are a couple pictures of Charlotte on her actual one-month "birthday".

A nice picture of them both

Sometimes Charlotte and I hang out in Elijah's room while he's getting ready for bed. The other night we got there after nursing and Elijah was just finished his bath. The two of them were both lying on the bed for a while and they looked so cute together I had to take a couple shots. They turned out pretty good so I thought I'd share one here.

Elijah at the Dentist

Elijah had his first real dentist appointment this morning. He's been there before but it was just a "get to know the dentist" type appointment where he sat in the chair and let them look at his teeth. This time he sat up in the chair and let the dentist look at all his teeth. Then she asked me if we wanted to try the polishing on him. I said sure, since I had just packed up the 2 kids and driven 40 minutes to get there! I wasn't going to leave after 5 minutes!! Plus, I wanted to see how he would react. Well, he was a star! He got some funky glasses and a mirror to watch with. The dentist and the assistant Tamara were really good with him. So, he got the full works: polish, floss and even fluoride! The only thing he didn't like was the suction tube so we avoided that. They couldn't believe that at 2 he was willing to go through all that without a problem. Guess it pays off to do regular flossing and brushing at home. :) I took some pictures cause it was pretty cool and I was really impressed. :)
